In the 19th century, there were not enough students in Middle Village to warrant a school. Children had to make the long trek to Newtown High School to attend classes. By1901, the demographics had changed and PS 87 was built. Today, PS 87 has been called a creative, collaborative and technologically advanced elementary school that serves a diverse student population.
